ChildFund Rugby’s partners use Pass It Back, a set of integrated rugby and life skills learning products, so that children and young people in vulnerable communities have the opportunity to develop critical social and emotional skills, which ensure they are better equipped to overcome challenges, inspire positive social change, and take leadership roles in their lives.

ChildFund Rugby is World Rugby’s global Social Impact Partner, a multi-year partnership that builds on previous partnerships across four consecutive Rugby World Cup events.

ChildFund Rugby is led by ChildFund Australia on behalf of the ChildFund Alliance – a global network of 12 organisations which assists almost 23 million children and their families in 70 countries.

KEY INFORMATION

Location: Must reside in a country within Asia, Oceania, Africa, or Europe where you have existing work permissions. ChildFund is unable to support working permissions

Employment:  Full-time service agreement for a 24-months term.

Reporting to: ChildFund Rugby Co-Directors

Key Internal Relationships: Responsible for managing multiple direct reports based globally and working remotely.

Other Information: Fully remote position within an international team environment. International travel will be required. Fluency in English and at least one other language is essential.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The position will oversee the delivery of ChildFund’s Sport for Development portfolio and partnerships globally. This senior role provides strategic leadership and ensures that all partnerships align with ChildFund’s partnership approach and deliver quality programming, evidence, and measurable impact. The role directly manages Regional Partnership Coordinators, ensuring effective partnership management and product delivery. The role also leads on the identification and management of diverse funding opportunities to drive global impact.

Responsibilities include:

  2. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL);
  3. Strategic Leadership and Business Development.

KEY DUTIES

Global Partnerships Leadership

  • Lead the global Sport for Development partnerships strategy, ensuring partnerships contribute to strategic objectives through high-quality product delivery and impact.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, governments, and federations, promoting collaboration, mutual accountability, and leadership pathways for Coaches and partners.
  • Directly manage and support Regional Partnerships Coordinators to ensure consistent and effective partnership management.
  • Coordinate support from partnership-facing, technical, and non-program team members to ensure consistent and effective partnership management and capacity sharing.
  • Create an inclusive and collaborative team environment, promoting learning, accountability, professional development, and a supportive work culture across the wider team.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)

  • Oversee the global monitoring, evaluation, and learning framework to ensure effective and timely decision-making and learning.
  • Ensure learning processes are systematically embedded across regions and teams to strengthen product delivery, mutual accountability, and reporting.
  • Support Regional Partnerships Coordinators and partners to use evidence for adaptive management and continuous learning.
  • Oversee partner-led data collection and reporting processes, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with product MEL standards, and ensure the overall MEL system functions effectively.

Strategic Leadership and Business Development

  • Working with key team members, provide strategic leadership to expand ChildFund’s influence and impact in Sport for Development.
  • Identify and pursue diverse funding opportunities aligned with strategic goals, supporting proposal development, stakeholder engagement, and funding management.
  • Manage funding relationships to ensure high-quality servicing, reporting, and accountability, while leveraging funding to strengthen partnerships and scale impact.
  • Represent ChildFund Sport for Development in key global forums, networks, and strategic partnerships, sharing evidence of impact and contributing to sector learning on safeguarding, inclusion, and social and emotional learning.
  • Ensure national partners are authentically represented in external platforms, building sector credibility and advancing ChildFund’s reputation as a leader in Sport for Development.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Qualification in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in international development or Sport for Development, with experience in partnership management.
  • Proven experience leading and managing multi-country teams in diverse cultural settings remotely.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams to secure and manage institutional funding.
  • Strong background in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), with experience overseeing partner-led data collection and reporting systems.
  • Experience in safeguarding, inclusion, and child/youth-focused programming, including knowledge of PSEAH principles.
  • Fluent in written and verbal English; additional languages are an advantage.

You are expected to remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding and Sexual Exploitation, Abuse or Harassment (SEAH) risks and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with Child Safeguarding and Prevention of SEAH Policies.
